DS builds on the success of its critically acclaimed previous releases with an ambitious new 12” featuring the work of some of today’s most relevant dance music producers.
Side B features Lars Behrenroth’s “Beach”, a pulsing track that reflects its
title in its structure. Emerging from a gentle atmospheric beginning the song accrues weight and momentum with each bar, elegant and sublime it envelops and sways with just the right urgency.
Smith & Mudd’s remix brings the song into a lush verdant arrangement, guitars and strings adds a folk lyricism, while giving it a mystery that expands the songs tenor, vibrating like a perfect afternoon.
Each of the songs in the 12” has a distinct flavor and approach and yet all are complimentary, taking modern or “new” disco to even more adult levels of sophistication and specificity, while maintaining the drive to party and dance.
