any of you frequent visitors of deepershades.net
and avid listeners of my radio show Deeper Shades of House helped me reach yet another magic mark. A few days ago, on October 3rd 2007 to be exact, the Deeper Shades of House Podcast reached over 100,000 downloads since I started making it available on November 14th 2006. This number is according to my statistics at feedburner.com (a service that allows keeping track of your podcasts and other RSS feeds) ONLY INCLUDES ACTUAL PODCAST DOWNLOADS. Not counted are the many many downloads directly from the site deepershades.net.
This screenshot above shows the number of downloads as well as the top 5 shows downloaded. Deeper Shades of House show #185
leads the chart of Item Popularity with 3159 downloads. I know someone blogged about it somewhere :) . . . Followed closely by the 2nd hour of Classic House Special DSoH #200
and so forth. The additional views and clicks in this screenshot show how many people clicked back to the site from the podcast (via Itunes or other podcatchers). Since I redesigned my site those numbers have gone up dramatically and I am sure the possibility to download the guestmixes / 2nd hour of each show is helping as well.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH for enjoying what I do and for spreading the word.I know that a lot of people find their way to this site because music lovers like you told them about Deeper Shades of House.
his song and its video are mostly responsible for me getting into house music. In Germany and the UK "Jack Your Body" produced by Steve 'Silk' Hurley and originally released in 1986 on the 'DJ International' sublabel 'Underground' from Chicago actually made it in the charts and it was played all over the radio. The European major label which licensed this song put together a video using old jazz dance snippets and some cheap computer animation (back in the days actually pretty fresh). I remember seeing this video on many different TV stations.
My wife Kat just sent this to me via StumbleUpon and our reaction was exactly the same.
'This is soooo like us' :) but luckily in addition we both get out on the weekends when I DJ.
f I am going to see another email / myspace / facebook - or whatever social community "DJ's" might be on - message about voting for YOU in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll for 2007, I will seriously throw up all over it and block you in any way possible.
The British dance music magazine DJmag
(actually quite interesting to read and covering a healthy range of anything related) has been conducting these polls for many years now and the outcome is always pretty similar when it comes to the names and the styles represented - most DJs high up in the ranks are usually not my cup of tea, but what else is new.
For some reason in the last years more and more "DJ's" have started to beg people to vote for them in this poll, providing direct links to the DJmag poll page to make voting easier, even telling the reader of their spam mail or message how to enter their names so votes could be counted correctly ...
I have one thought on that:
If you have to beg people to vote for you, you don't deserve it. Not that the poll really matters anyways. Well, I guess to a few poor souls it does.
Chills.. everytime I hear this song. Make sure you check out the 12" with the Acieed Mix by Steve 'Silk' Hurley. That was the one mostly played in European clubs and that's the one I usually drop when I play this classic jam from 1989. Check out the full release info, credits etc. at Ten City - That's The Way Love Is - Atlantic Records 1989
please hit me up if you have a better quality version of this video. I gotta pull out my old VHS tapes and hope the sound's a bit more decent that the version above .. either way .. a must have in any House Music DJ's collection...

The intro of this song alone kills it everytime but if you hear the whole thing in the middle of a set you can't help but let loose on the dancefloor.
